If you want to be a Pokémon trainer, play the phenomenally popular Pokémon trading card game. If you want to become an amazing Pokémon Master—maybe even the number-one Pokémon Master in the world— you'll have to train hard!
Base Set 2 is the name given to the fourth main expansion of the Pokémon Trading Card Game. It does not have a main expansion as a Japanese equivalent. It is based on Pokémon Red and Blue, featuring Generation I Pokémon. It was released on February 24, 2000.
The 2-Player Starter Set is a special beginners deck from the Base Set of the Pokémon Trading Card Game.
The 2-Player Starter Set includes 61 cards unlike the Theme Decks released alongside Base Set, which include 60. As the 2-Player Starter Set is designed to introduce players to the TCG, the cards are split into two 30-card decks: The First Deck, which focuses on Fighting Pokémon, and The Second Deck, which focuses on Fire Pokémon. As the only Stage 2 Pokémon in the set, the additional Machamp card is included to bolster the deck.
